Pacific Empire Builders

This is where Industry and Education come together to make a real difference.

JETS has been blessed to have a great partnership with Pacific Empire Builders.  As an ongoing educational experience, vice president of operations Mr. Randall Thompson comes to JETS and gives presentations to the students. It gives the students an opportunity to get first hand insight into the construction industry and learn about leadership skills. Pacific Empire Builders, with the support of Thomas Safran & Associates, is also an apprenticeship partner with JETS where students have the opportunity to become paid construction workers and are able to put their construction skills to use while continuing to learn and develop new skills.  From all of us at JETS Thank you.

Pacific Empire Builders http://pebuilders.com/ is committed to delivering high quality housing, retail, office and industrial projects for clients and end-users alike on schedule and within budget without compromising safety.   The Company performs pre-construction, construction management, and general contracting services for its clients.

Pacific Empire Builders was established by Dan Mahoney and Jason Tolleson, two of the founders of Serrano Development Group, a full service real estate investment and development firm.  After hiring outside general contractors to build their first few projects, Dan and Jason determined that cost, schedule, and quality objectives would be more readily achieved by aligning the development and construction teams more closely.  Headquartered in Los Angeles, Pacific Empire Builders is the preferred builder for Serrano Development Group.  Pacific Empire Builders is integrated into the development process early to collaborate and work closely with the architect and design consultants to produce the optimal design.  During construction, Pacific Empire Builders works closely with the development team to identify value engineering opportunities and to minimize cost and schedule impacts from changes.  By avoiding the pitfalls of the traditional owner builder roles, the Pacific Empire Builders and Serrano Development Group teams work together to design and build high quality buildings in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner.

Ocean construction

In the fields of architecture and civil engineering, construction is a process that consists of the building or assembling of infrastructure. Far from being a single activity, large-scale construction is a feat of human multitasking. Normally, the job is managed by a project manager, and supervised by a construction manager, design engineer, construction engineer, or project architect.

For the successful execution of a project, effective planning is essential. Those involved with the design and execution of the infrastructure in question must consider the environmental impact of the job, the successful scheduling, budgeting, construction site safety, availability of building materials, logistics, inconvenience to the public caused by construction delays, and bidding, etc.

The Apprenticeship system is training the next generation of practitioners of a skill. Apprentices build their careers from apprenticeships. Most of their training is done while working for an employer who helps the apprentices learn their trade, in exchange for their continuing labor for an agreed period of time after they become skilled. At JETS the apprentice experience is complimented with an educational trade course in a classroom and workplace environment at vocational schools. A beginner or an inexperienced student will need a minimum about of hours in a vocational trade program before to build up his skill level before he can enter an apprentice program.

Ocean Electric

Electricians install and maintain the complex infrastructure of wiring and circuitry that keeps power flowing in our residences and businesses. Licensed electricians work on construction sites, repair systems for homes, businesses, and help install complex machinery. It's not a "classroom" skill. Although extensive study is a part of the training, electricians learn primarily as apprentices gaining hands-on experience.

Students interested in learning to become electricians can be placed in an apprenticeship program currently offered through Ocean Electric. Some background knowledge in electrical work is required and therefore students are placed in an electrical trade course that builds up their skill level. A minimum age is required, but there is no maximum age.

Apprentice electricians can work up to 40 hours per week at the trade under the supervision of a journeyman electrician and can receive pay. They spend additional time in the classroom training at the trade school. At the conclusion of training about five years for commercial and industrial construction, less for residential construction, apprentices become journeymen.

To become a licensed electrician once you complete your apprenticeship a state examination is required. There is no national standardized testing program. Each state administers its own written test. However, passing a licensing exam is required in all 50 states.

Nadels Architect - http://www.nadelarc.com/

In the fields of architecture and civil engineering, construction is a process that consists of the building or assembling of infrastructure. Far from being a single activity, large-scale construction is a feat of human multitasking. Normally, the job is managed by a project manager, and supervised by a construction manager, design engineer, construction engineer, or project architect.

Nadel Architects Inc. is a multi-discipline architectural firm with divisions for retail, office/hotel, multi-family, residential, public/institutional, and interiors that are all overseen by division leaders. During the 28-year history of the firm's retail division, Nadel has specialized in single-story suburban neighborhood centers, power centers, and multi-story urban mixed-use developments.

As the trend toward social interaction at retail centers evolves, architects are designing more varieties of common areas that draw shoppers and keep them on-site longer. Waterscapes, landscapes, pedestrian pathways, sitting nodes, performance areas, and other amenities are all part of a retail architect's repertoire today.
