COMPUTER-AIDED DRAFTING (CAD) TECHNICIAN: MECHANICAL BASICS

This competency-based course is designed to train students for entry-level employment as operators of computer-aided drafting (CAD) systems. This course provides instruction in drawing construction with CAD for mechanical drafting based on conventional drafting techniques (basic, intermediate and advanced levels), a review of basic math skills applicable to CAD, mechanical terminology, drafting standards and methods, computer fundamentals, employment literacy, as well as occupational safety guidelines. The competencies in this course are aligned with the California High School Academic Content Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.

PREREQUISITES:

Enrollment requires a reading level of 9.0 as measured by the TABE D 7/8 and math skills equivalent to Integrated Mathematics/1 (31-01-61).
