Trade Academics Program

The Trade Academics Program is designed for students who are not pursuing an academic education beyond high school. The program focuses on English skills necessary for clear communication in the professional world and mathematical skills adequate for personal finance and career support.

California High School Proficiency: Students not possessing a high school degree can prepare for a California High School Equivalency Certificate issued by the California Department of Education by studying for the High School Equivalency Test, or HiSet. Test preparation instruction at JETS is student paced, with individualized attention and small group teaching designed to maximize progress and adapt to unique student learning styles. Students must be 17 years of age in order to take the HiSet Exam. The HiSET exam measures the academic knowledge and proficiency equivalent to that of a high school graduate. It covers five content areas: Language Arts – Reading, Language Arts – Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science.

Personal Finance and Resume Building: Students in the Trade Academics Program will be instructed in Personal Finance, including banking, credit use, and employment finance and taxation. Students will construct a resume and work on interview skills.
